Details

An historically important old stone property dating from the 15th Century.  Fully restored, the property is located close to the tiny village of Le Coux et Bigaroque, which is not far from the Dordogne river, and which has a grocery store, bakery and other small shops. This property nestles in it's own grounds and has the most beautiful far reaching views across the valley and countryside beyond.

This property has its own pool which is set in a lovely private garden at the rear of the property with views towards the valley. 

The solid wood entrance to the property is accessed via a covered terrace at the side of the property which overlooks the views and leads into a large hallway with tiled floor, exposed stonework and beams.  To the right is the fully equipped kitchen/breakfast room with large pine table and door leading out to the rear garden and al fresco dining terrace.

 

There is a large twin bedroom on this floor with double aspect windows.  Beds may be made up as either singles or a double.

 

Stairs lead from the kitchen down to the laundry area.  

 

Returning to the entrance hall, where there is a beautiful ancient stone fireplace feature, steps lead up to the formal dining room with large wooden table and high backed chairs.  The cosy fireplace, exposed stonework and beams make this a very characterful space. 


From the dining room, a door leads through to the sitting room which also has exposed stonework and beams and a further old stone fireplace.  There are 2 comfortable sofas and several armchairs grouped around the fireplace - a great spot for relaxing inside.

From the sitting room a stone staircase leads up to a very spacious double bedroom with its own ensuite shower room.  PLEASE NOTE:  the stone staircase is fairly steep and has two grab handles but does not have a continuous handrail;  this bedroom is therefore not suitable for children under 12 years, elderly clients or those with mobility problems.

From the entrance hall a solid wood staircase leads up to a large landing with quiet reading space off which, to the right, is the third delightful twin bedroom (which may be made up as a large double) and, to the left, a shower room with basin and WC.

All in all a very comfortable and characterful property with private pool and gorgeous views, ideally located for all the sites and amenities this lovely region has to offer, and the ideal place to enjoy a very relaxing holiday.

Situation


This property is based in the Dordogne (often referred to by its ancient name "The Périgord"). Although times may 
have changed over the years the beautiful Dordogne landscape, in one of the most beautiful areas of France, continues to offer something to amaze and delight everyone. This ancient land, deep in the heart of sunny south-west France, is perfect holiday country; a magical place that will reward all those who choose to explore it.

The Périgord Noir, where the vast majority of our properties are located, is the 'Jewel in the Crown' of the Dordogne for here, in the triangle formed between the rivers Vézère and Dordogne, you will find the greatest concentration of natural wonders and historic sites, and the loveliest stretches of both rivers. The area is bounded by four famous towns and this property is well situated within this boundary - Sarlat, a medieval treasure house; Périgueux, a thriving and sophisticated small city; Bergerac, shippers of wine since the Middle ages and Monpazier, an extraordinarily well preserved bastide built by King Edward I in 1285.
