Details

A beautifully presented property close to the market town of Lalinde, quietly nestling on the edge of woodland within a formal garden of established trees and very attractive sculpted box hedge plants.

On arrival one passes through a lovely old oak gate to gain access to the grounds, passing on the way a pigeonnier with peg tile roof.

The property is made up of an ensemble of charming old stone buildings - a main house, two guest suites housed within completely renovated independent buildings, a barn with laundry facilities and a very elegant 8m x 4m pool - all linked with graveled pathways and shallow steps.  Each property has a collection of traditional, arched and round stone windows and doors, all with shutters for privacy.  The old peg tiled roof retains the full character of the property and at one end of the main house the bread oven still exists.

Within the main house, the ground floor houses a large sitting/dining room with attractive windows, exposed stonework and beams and an open fire place.  Also on the ground floor a stone archway leads through to the very well equipped kitchen/breakfast room with solid wood work surfaces, a good selection of cream wooden wall and base units, butler sink, double aspect windows - of which one is arched set within a stone surround - and an attractive selection of antique display cupboards. A cloakroom with WC and basin, as well as a separate pantry are set just behind the kitchen.

From the kitchen stairs lead up to the master bedroom with seagrass matting, cream limed beams, exposed stonework and antique furniture.  This room is particularly light, having double opening windows to the front of the property and a large French window to the side with small balcony overlooking the pool.  On the other side of the landing is a bathroom - very unique incorporating the mansarded beams, and similarly decorated with the materials and style used throughout the property.

Each of the additional two bedrooms has its own private access and a unique ensuite bath/shower room.  Interiors have been decorated with a strong eye to detail including exposed stone walls, limed beams and woodwork, antique furniture and quality soft furnishings. The independent layout of the property - with individual buildings, separate access to each and close proximity of the pool, means it is not entirely suitable to children under the age of 16.

The large barn has a good sized laundry area.

All in all a very elegant ensemble of buildings, renovated using the highest quality materials and offering a private haven for up to three couples.

Situation

This property is based in the Dordogne (often referred to by its ancient name "The Périgord"). Although times may have changed over the years the beautiful Dordogne landscape, in one of the most beautiful areas of France, continues to offer something to amaze and delight everyone. This ancient land, deep in the heart of sunny south-west France, is perfect holiday country; a magical place that will reward all those who choose to explore it.

The Périgord Noir where the vast majority of our properties are located, is the 'Jewel in the Crown' of the Dordogne for here, in the triangle formed between the rivers Vézère and Dordogne, you will find the greatest concentration of natural wonders and historic sites, and the loveliest stretches of both rivers. The area is bounded by four famous towns and this property is well situated within this boundary - Sarlat, a medieval treasure house; Périgueux, a thriving and sophisticated small city; Bergerac, shippers of wine since the Middle ages and Monpazier, an extraordinarily well preserved bastide built by King Edward I in 1285.

Near the village Mauzac et Grand Castang (small grocery store, café/bistro); 45 Minutes from Bergerac airport, 1.45 hours from Brive airport, 2.5 hours from Bordeaux airport/TGV station and 3 hours from Toulouse airport.
