Situated at Mauzac et Grand Castang "Les Arènes" offers very comfortable accommodation sleeping up to 8 people in the Main House and a further 8 (up to a total of 16 people) in a charming collection of separate en-suite stone dependences grouped around the grassy courtyard (see below for full details).
Surrounded by 1.5 hectares of tranquil gardens and woodland 'Les Arènes' has been fully and thoughtfully renovated to provide modern conveniences whilst retaining all the characterful features appreciated by lovers of the French countryside. From the exposed oak beams, to the warm fire place in the main room and the central dining and living space, each room within the property offers boundless opportunities for families to connect and enjoy their holiday.
The private pool and pool house nestle quietly in the rear garden with views reaching across the countryside.
On entering the main house the large open plan kitchen/sitting/dining room has terracotta tiled floors, exposed stonework walls and large beams. Wood panelling also cleverly lines one side of the room, concealing a laundry area and separate cloakroom with WC. Also on the ground floor is a comfortable Home Cinema room painted in soft tones, a more formal sitting room with lovely old fireplace, exposed stoneworks and beams, and the large master bedroom with its en-suite shower room.
Returning to the formal sitting room a solid wood staircase leads to the first floor which has a long landing - off which are a further three bedrooms and a very large, newly installed family bathroom with quality fixtures and fittings.
Opposite the Main House and adjacent to the 18th century tobacco barn are two fully renovated dependences, "Hortense" and "Rosier", while across the grassy courtyard is the third fully renovated dependence, "Hibuscus" which may be rented in combination with the Main House for a supplement ( http://www.simply-perigord.com/cas335-16 ) - please ask us for details of the individual suite prices (N.B. clients who have rented the Main House will not be sharing the grounds/property - the additional suites are available for separate hire to members of the same group only).
The three suites comprise the following:-
Hortense - sleeping 2 - has a small sitting area and shower room on the ground floor and a mezzanine bedroom - €400 per week in high season; €350 per week in mid season.
Hibuscus - sleeping 4 - has two bedrooms, a corner kitchen/dining area, a large shared bathroom and a sitting area - all on the ground floor - €650 per week in high season; €525 per week in mid season.
Rosier - sleeping 2 - has a large bedroom with ensuite shower room including large curved shower, WC and basin on the first floor. N.B. exterior stone steps provide access to this suite - €400 per week in high season; €350 per week in mid season
In summary, the accommodation can be described as follows:-
Sleeps 8/10/12/16:- 8 in the Main House (which must be rented) and up to a further 8 (per the configuration described above) in the separate en-suite stone dependences - making total accommodation for 16 people
All in all quality renovations have been undertaken throughout to produce a very comfortable and charming holiday retreat - far from the madding crowd yet within easy reach of all the lovely sites this region has to offer. A very special escape.

This property is based in the Dordogne (often referred to by its ancient name "The Périgord"). Although times may have changed over the years the beautiful Dordogne landscape, in one of the most beautiful areas of France, continues to offer something to amaze and delight everyone. This ancient land, deep in the heart of sunny south-west France, is perfect holiday country; a magical place that will reward all those who choose to explore it.
The Périgord Noir, where the vast majority of our properties are located, is the 'Jewel in the Crown' of the Dordogne for here, in the triangle formed between the rivers Vézère and Dordogne, you will find the greatest concentration of natural wonders and historic sites, and the loveliest stretches of both rivers. The area is bounded by four famous towns and this property is well situated within this boundary - Sarlat, a medieval treasure house; Périgueux, a thriving and sophisticated small city; Bergerac, shippers of wine since the Middle ages and Monpazier, an extraordinarily well preserved bastide built by King Edward I in 1285.
Just 8km from the market town of Lalinde for all amenities. 10 minutes from Ste Alvère - Monday market and small shops and restaurants.
Less then 45 minutes from Bergerac airport, 1.5 hours from Brive airport, 2 hours from Bordeaux airport/TGV station and 2.5 hours from Toulouse airport.
